No 8 Community Arts Centre in PershoreWritten by Richard Burt, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire on Fri 21st Jul 2006 Congratulations to all concerned following the official opening of No 8 Community Arts Centre in Pershore by HRH Prince Philip last Monday. It has been a long haul, nearly ten years to complete the project, but now we have a wonderful arts venue in Pershore that will entertain and enrich the lives of young and old for generations to come. The old Coop building has been transformed and is now a focal point for the town, not only serving the arts and the wider community, but helping to generate more prosperity and extra visitors. The amazing goodwill and effort that has been generated by so many is now rewarded with opportunities to take part in dance, drama, poetry and art classes with a strong emphasis on projects for young people. The centre also hosts conferences and has a thriving theatre and cinema offering a very full programme of entertainment all year round. No 8 would be the envy of many larger towns and we are rightly proud and privileged to have it on our doorstep. I'm sure it will continue to be a roaring success.
